Project C
A high-speed lifting-body quadcopter
This project was an attempt to design and build a high-performance quadcopter prototype. This project was a collaboration between myself, Tommy Zhang, and Arnab Majumder.
My focus was on the structural and aerodynamic design, as well as electronic hardware. I helped source and solder the mostly off-the-shelf avionics, and integrated and setup the ESCs, motors, flight controller, and FPV system.
I also designed the lifting-body airframe, with aerofoil struts and performed real-world validation of a subscale prototype’s stability using a motor vehicle at speed.
The first high-speed test of the quadcopter, reaching 103 km/h at less than 40% throttle.
