Liquid Bipropellant Rocket Engine
Developing the liquid propulsion systems for the University of Toronto Aerospace Team's Rocketry Division
At the University of Toronto Aerospace Team - Rocketry Division, I am leading the development of the team’s first-ever liquid bipropellant engine. It is fueled by ethanol and nitrous oxide, and produces over 5000 Newtons of thrust.
In my time at this role, we have successfully conducted two hot-fire tests and over thirty(!!) cold flow tests of the engine. After our first hot-fire revealed significant problems in the design concept of the engine, I architected a series of changes that we executed in record time, hot firing again with a heavily modified engine after less than 3 months.
